In the cutthroat world of post-graduation job-hunting, those with the most in-demand degrees are set up to thrive. Back that degree with the right skills, and you could land a job in a growing field that comes with a big salary upgrade. The highest paying jobs in popular STEM areas will go to college graduates with practical experience beyond the classroom, says Michelle Joseph, founder and CEO of PeopleFoundry, a Chicago-based consulting company that builds teams for high-growth companies.
She adds that grads with engineering or computer science degrees without portfolios may still get hired by employers who are willing to bring them up to a higher level with training.
